Just in: Youth Lagoon just dropped a first preview and lead off single for his up-incoming sophomore album: the track being called ‘Dropla’. The name of the album will be called Wondrous Bughouse, and will be out March 5th. It looks as if he will be doing a mini tour to promote the new album a month before and roughly a month after its release. The sound of the new track is really Youth Lagoon–in all its style. He keeps to the unique ability of synthesizing and playing the electronic keyboard, while at the same time throwing in natural sounding samples to bring the electronic sound down to earth. As for the lyrical structure though, Youth Lagoon takes a different approach to his first album’s drawn-back echoes of shadowy underlings. In this track, he goes for it and uses his confidence to drill a highly direct sound to the beautiful background electronic synths. If this track is any indication, it looks as if the new album will be more up-beat and forward; whereas before, The Year of Hibernation was really a lesson on mediation. He seems to be telling it all and leaving nothing behind…enjoy!
